Várkert Bazár will open its annual Advent celebrations for the fifth time between December 1 and 22, 2019.
The program will include four different themes every Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00, along with workshops, playhouses, and concerts for children and adults.
“There will be free programs on Sundays during the day, in the spirit of fairy tales, environmental awareness, community, and celebration. Crafts, lectures, and handicraft fairs will take place at various venues within the Castle Garden,” said Krisztina Sikota, Deputy Chief Executive of tourism and culture.
This year’s host will be Dóra Szinetár, who will also perform on stage and light the Advent wreath candles made by Hello Wood before the evening concerts.
Advent weekends also include a Sisi Christmas theme tour, recalling the Christmas of the Austrian Empress and Queen of Hungary, Elisabeth (Sisi).
On December 15, the Audience for the Community event will see children make gifts for UNICEF volunteers to sell on the spot, to help support those in need.
Miklós Both will also perform the Forgotten Christmas in Ukraine concert with ten village singers. Through the power of music and short films, the congregation would like to paint a picture of the inhabitants of the Transcarpathian territories, their culture and traditions.
