Minister of Finance Mihály Varga talked, among other things, about negotiations with the leaders of various large American companies in his latest Facebook video. According to Varga, the businessmen confirmed that the confidence of American companies in the Hungarian economy is unbroken.
He emphasized that this is important primarily because 1,700 American companies currently in Hungary employ 106,000 Hungarians, and, per the latest data, US capital investments in Hungary exceed EUR 11 billion.
Future investments were also discussed. The minister confirmed that there are 12 investments that American companies are now planning in Hungary, which could create 5,000 new jobs.
On the flip side, the government is also helping Hungarian companies enter the American market. The value of Hungarian investments in the U.S. is currently EUR 1.5 billion.
Varga stressed that the government will continue to strengthen bilateral relations and support investments, as these are the way out of the crisis.
