The launch of the program was announced by György Wáberer, the government commissioner responsible for the development of the Tokaj-Zemplén region.
Wáberer said the program is an exceptional opportunity for those who already have a developed vision of what they want to accomplish but just don’t know how to approach it.
The organizers are looking for innovative ideas that will not only revolutionize the wine region but also respond to the latest challenges in the area, so targeting digital nomads and attracting new wine tourists are priorities.
Startups participating in the program receive five weeks of online business development training and business and professional mentoring; those then selected for the second phase of the program can receive an additional five weeks of investment preparation and up to HUF 20 million in venture capital investment — HUF 15 million from Hiventures and HUF 5 million from Startup Campus.
The program is also supported by renowned experts from industries tied to the Tokaj-Zemplén region, including István Szepsy Jr. (winemaker), Dr. Balázs Vinnai (businessman, startup investor and mentor) and Dr. Richard Szepesi (businessman, tourism investor).
Teams of at least two people can apply until November 1. The application and further details can be found here.
