The Summer Student Work Program has started

The program has been running since 2013.

The program mainly provides incentives for secondary school and university students to work during their holidays by offering wage subsidies. So far, the government has supported more than 242,000 students with a total of HUF 24 billion. The scheme is open to full-time students aged 16-25 who are not currently employed and do not have a business contract.

Grants are available to municipalities and businesses in agriculture, tourism and catering.

Local authorities will be reimbursed in full for up to two months of wages paid for up to 6 hours of employment per day. Firms can also be subsidized for up to 8 hours of employment per day, with the scheme covering three-quarters of the wages, the Ministry of Technology and Industry announced.

The subsidy is calculated on the basis of a gross monthly wage of HUF 195,000 per person for a skilled job. For a job not requiring professional qualifications, the limit is HUF 150,000. In the case of employment of fewer than 6 hours per day, the amount of aid is reduced proportionally, with the net wage of students being up to HUF 122,000-159,000 per month.

The HUF 2 billion program started on June 15, 2022, and students can register at the employment departments of the district offices responsible for their area.

The earliest date on which young people who are offered a job with the support can start working is July 1, 2022.
