Hungary will host the European final of the Bocuse d’Or in 2022, the Hungarian Tourism Agency announced.
At the event, representatives of 20 countries will compete with each other to qualify for the world final. Members of the jury will select the best chefs to take part in the 2023 Lyon World Final.
“During the European final in Budapest, the general public can get to know the tastes of Hungary, a unique opportunity to strengthen our position on the culinary map of the world,” the organizers said.
As the most prestigious cooking competition in Europe, Bocuse d’Or is also a great tourist advertisement for Hungary, giving visitors an experience that will hopefully encourage them to return in the future. This makes the competition yet another way to help relaunch the troubled tourism sector in Budapest.
In the last decade, Hungarian gastronomic life has undergone significant development, bringing outstanding results at the international level as well. After Tamás Széll’s win in 2016, another Hungarian could also compete at the European final, the official announcement said.
