The Bringapark in Balassagyarmat is located in the Nyírjes district, about four kilometers from the city center, where the 3.3-kilometer trail is located next to an artificial lake system. Jumps have also been designed for all levels, according to Active Hungary.
Since it is in a protected national park, the construction of the trail was made possible by an amendment to the Forestry Act. The new legislation means that the trustee of the area can now enter into a conditional use agreement with the local authority. The construction of the trail was preceded by serious consultations to ensure that the interests of nature conservation, tourism and sports could be pursued simultaneously in the area managed by Ipoly Erdő Zrt.
Thanks to the new regulatory environment, it is expected that in the future more such forest bike paths will be created in beautiful forest environments such as in Balassagyarmat.
The construction of the park was supported by the state through the National Bringapark Programme with HUF 10 million, while the municipality contributed another HUF 10 million.
In the future, a visitor center will be built next to the track, with changing rooms, toilets and showers, as well as a water park, thematic walkways and a playhouse.
Under the National Bringapark Program, the Hungarian government has supported the development of 39 bike and skate parks in 2021, worth a total of HUF 1.1 billion.
The next tender period for 2022 will start soon and, as in the previous period, municipalities and associations will be eligible for a 50 percent grant for the construction of bike and skate parks.
