Balázs Orbán, Parliamentary and Strategic State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, noted that more than HUF 4 trillion has been provided for the development of 23 cities under the Modern Cities program.
Of this, about HUF 2.5 trillion will be spent on road and rail developments, and the rest will be spent on local projects. Within the framework of the program launched in 2015, HUF 1.9 trillion in domestic and European Union funds have been disbursed so far, the Secretary of State stated.
Balázs Orbán emphasized that the Hungarian government stands for the cultural policy of Kunó Klebelsberg and believes “Hungary cannot be saved and made great again by the sword, but by culture.”
“We need a cultural policy that has national commitment, international standards and international relations. Only this can provide the cultural supremacy that Kunó Klebelsberg also considered key,” the secretary of state stressed.
The secretary also mentioned that out of all member states in the European Union, Hungary spends the most on the financing of culture, the operation of institutions, and significant infrastructure investments such as the renovation of the Csokonai Theater.
