R&D center based on 3D technologies established at the University of Pécs

A multi-disciplinary research, education and development center using 3D printing technologies has been established at the University of Pécs in partnership with the University of Debrecen.

As MTI reported, the University of Pécs (PTE) stated that the workshop was established at the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics of the University of Pécs as part of a project implemented in partnership with the University of Debrecen, with HUF 1.85 billion in funding from the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Program (Ginop)

The R&D center offers services based on 3D technologies that can support researchers, healthcare, industry, R&D&I activities of PTE and the region, and educational objectives.

The center will develop and mass-produce various simulators for general medical education and prototypes for industry. It has started to explore the possibility of contributing to the production of automotive components. The development and production of surgical drilling and cutting templates, medical devices and simulation models are already underway, they wrote.

The aim is for the institution to become an important center for education, science and research at the national and international level. It will also support the university’s commercialization processes, the statement said.
