PM Orbán: Uzbekistan is our strategic partner in the Central Asian region
PM Orbán held talks with the Uzbek President.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán discussed economic and energy cooperation and closer cultural and educational ties with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Samarkand, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief, told MTI on Thursday.
Mirziyoyev said that Hungarian businessmen and companies are welcome in Uzbekistan and will be given every assistance to make their investments successful.
PM Orbán said that in the current war and sanctions crisis, the whole of Europe, including Hungary, is struggling not to lose its economic momentum. “However, we are not slowing down in this situation, and we are even increasing the intensity of cooperation with our strategic partner in the region, Uzbekistan. We are stepping up joint projects in the nuclear, chemical, financial and telecommunications sectors,” he added.
The prime minister said that as the energy crisis in the world will persist for a long time, we will seek joint gas production opportunities with Uzbekistan. Orbán also announced that the number of scholarships for Uzbek students in Hungary would be increased from 120 to 170 per year.
