Palkovics: The Silicon Valley of the automotive industry is being built in Hungary

The office building of the ZalaZONE Industrial Park, now structurally completed, shows the significant pace of development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the ZalaZONE office building, Minister of Innovation and Technology László Palkovics said that he had “learned” from German automotive companies that first they have to produce, research and test, and then they can build an office building. The pace of development in Zalaegerszeg and the vicinity of the automotive test track, however, is so fast that it must be shown to the outside world.

He said that the momentum of development in this area over the past four years showed that it does not take 200 for nearby areas to be built up.

László Vigh, Fidesz MP for the region and Ministerial Commissioner for the test track, said that the Silicon Valley of the automotive industry is being built in Zalaegerszeg, where not only vehicles for civil transport can be tested but also where the conditions for the defense industry and drone research will be created.

Mayor Zoltán Balaicz said that the 700-square-meter office building will be built with a budget of HUF 749 million and is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.

András Háry, CEO of ZalaZONE Industrial Park Zrt., said that an innovation ecosystem is starting to develop next to the test track, which started construction in 2016 and where development centers and factories are also being built; the future office building will be the headquarters of this development.
