One ticket to travel on Car Free Day across the country

On Thursday's Car Free Day, you can travel all day, for any length of time, in any number of cars in Hungary with a single ticket.

Dávid Vitézy, minister of state for transport at the Ministry of Technology and Industry, announced that if a passenger buys a local MÁV-Start, Volánbusz, GYSEV, or MÁV-HÉV ticket for any distance on Thursday, they can travel anywhere in the country until the end of the day.

Not the express train supplementary ticket, but the IC supplementary ticket, the local ticket, and the long-distance bus comfort supplement must be bought separately if the ticket is not for such a train or bus on that day. Tickets for journeys of less than 100 kilometers are valid for 4 hours only, but can be used nationally until the end of the day on September 22, he said.

The tickets are valid in 2nd class, and a long-distance ticket converted to 1st class is valid only in first class on the train for which it is valid; the ticket will be valid only in second class on other services during the day, Vitézy pointed out.
