The Debrecen Innovation Center will be built from an investment of HUF 4 billion and according to plans drawn up by Bord Architect Studio in the area of the University of Debrecen Science, Technology and Innovation Park. It will serve to take projects from the point of theoretical research to prototype production.
The university development, which underpins innovation and an entrepreneurial approach, has been supported by both the government and the university.
One of the most modern incubator houses in the country will be located on three levels of some 5,000 square meters. Laboratories and workshops will be located on the lower level and offices on the upper level. The middle level will feature a formal entry, community “marketplace,” dining area, lounges, meeting rooms and coworking spaces.
The building will have an air-to-water heat pump system and heat-recovery ventilation; the heat pumps will be powered by solar panels. Next to the building, two artificial hills will be created, one of which will house machinery and bicycles.
The state provided HUF 3 billion 883 million for the construction of the Innovation Center; Hunép Zrt. will handle the construction for a cost of HUF 3 billion 770 million.
Bord Architect Studio, founded in Budapest, has designed numerous well-known buildings, including the Etyek Mansion Winery Center, Korda Film Studio Visitor Center, Hidegkuti Stadium in Budapest, Debrecen International School and Forest Offices Debrecen.
