David Vitézy, Director General at the Museum of Transport, received the prestigious prize at the 15th Media Architecture Awards. The purpose of the event is to bring architecture closer to the public, while also highlighting the achievements of contemporary architecture.
The newly designed museum complex, with its exhibitions, community spaces and parks, is to become a catalyst for the revitalization of the entire neighborhood.
New permanent and temporary exhibitions, one of Europe’s largest technical-transportation history documentation centers, conference rooms, and a new community park will rejuvenate the 10-year-old industrial site and bring a new perspective to the surrounding areas.
The museum launched an international design competition to find the right team to deliver the project in 2018, which garnered significant domestic and foreign professional and media interest. First prize was awarded to Diller Scofidio + Renfro architectural firm in cooperation with their Hungarian partner M-Teampannon.
