More than 400 institutions prepare programs for the Night of Museums

The Night of Museums will take place across the country on June 25.

On the 20th Night of Museums, 431 institutions are preparing more than 2,500 programs. Minister of State for Culture Péter Hoppál said the event aims to raise interest in public collections and exhibitions among people who rarely or never visit museums.

This year, there will be a more varied program of events under the theme “Rethinking traditions.”

The institutions will organize concerts in community spaces, but there will also be guided tours in line with this year’s theme, as well as a number of interactive family activities and surprises.

All events in the capital can be visited with a discounted wristband (HUF 2,200), children’s tickets (6-18 years) are HUF 1,000, and children under six can attend the events free of charge.

The recently opened Hungarian Music House has also joined the jubilee event.

In addition to the permanent music history exhibition entitled “Sound Dimensions – Musical Journeys in Space and Time,” the institution will also host screenings, interactive installations, and concerts in several venues throughout the building, András Batta, Director General of the Hungarian House of Music, said.

This year’s highlight will be the city of Szolnok, where 23 institutions will offer a variety of activities for visitors.

The Szolnok event will start with a traditional military demonstration, and the Damjanich János Museum will also host an archaeological exhibition, a concert, ethnographic performances and games.
