Moody’s might further upgrade Hungary’s performance in 2022

The Hungarian economy could reach its pre-epidemic performance in 2022.

In February, Moody’s Investors Service, the international credit rating agency, confirmed improvement in the Hungarian economy and explained its positive outlook on its Baa3-level Hungarian sovereign debt rating. The agency said that the rating reflects the strong performance of the Hungarian economy compared to similarly rated sovereign debtors.

At the first review date this year, March 26, Moody’s did not change the rating of Hungarian government debt, leaving it at Baa3.

Analysts say it is very likely that Moody’s will upgrade Hungary’s performance outlook in 2022, but similar to Fitch and S&P, the agency will wait until the pace of economic recovery and fiscal trends are reflected in the facts.
