Lonely Planet has ranked cities based on where travelers will get the best bang for their buck, and Budapest made it to second place. The Top 10 list included spots in (or the entire countries of) Indonesia, India, Azerbaijan, Tunisia, Serbia, South Africa, and Tanzania, as well Athens, Greece, (ninth place) and Buffalo, NY, USA (fourth place).
Budapest was noted by Lonely Planet for its famous landmarks, architecture, thermal baths, ruin pubs, wine bars, and cafés, all of which can be enjoyed at a low price. But this isn’t the only top ranking the Central European capital has enjoyed. Just recently, Budapest has been named Best European Destination for 2019, the most liveable city in the Economist’s 2019 Global Liveability Index and the most beautiful winter city by CNN.
