On September 20, the eighth award ceremony of the Italian Mission Award, organized by professional journalists from the MICE sector (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions), took place in Milan, where key players in business tourism competed.
At the initiative of the Hungarian Tourism Agency, the Hungarian Congress Office and the market expert responsible for Italy submitted the destination application.
For the first time, Hungary also made it to the finals in the “Best Business Destination” category, where it finished second behind Switzerland.
The event was attended by 300 invited guests, including executives from the MICE tourism industry, CEOs of airlines and tour operators specializing in business travel, and executives of large companies and key tourist destinations.
Hungary was represented by Anna Békefi, Director of the Hungarian Congress Office, and Máté Terjék, Visit Hungary’s market expert for Italy, a subsidiary of the Hungarian Tourism Agency.
The fact that Hungary was ranked second in the “Best Business Destination” category behind Switzerland, which is considered to be one of the most important business tourism HUBs in Europe, was of great interest to participants.
This important event provided an excellent opportunity for Hungary to present itself on the Italian MICE market.
Both Visit Hungary and the Hungarian Congress Bureau considered the networking aspect of the event significant, and the openness of the journalists could be an excellent starting point for strengthening Italy’s interest in Hungary as a potential business tourism destination.
