The photo competition “Hungary 365” was first announced by the Prime Minister’s Office in 2019, in cooperation with the Hungarian Tourism Agency, the National Association of Large Families and the Hungarian Hiking Association. Its goal was to present various Hungarian values and holidays as well as the everyday life of Hungarians.
From 17,000 submissions, the best images were presented in an online exhibition, which has been viewed by tens of thousands, said photographer Ottó Kaiser, chairman of the competition jury.
This year, entries are welcome in three categories, starting on September 1:
- The Nature and Landscape category can include photos, astrophotos and macro photos of Hungary’s natural treasures, both flora and fauna.
- The Built and Object Heritage category welcomes photos of both folk architecture and modern buildings, including building complexes, districts, public sculptures, and interiors of public buildings.
- The Life Pictures category can include portraits and “stories” depicting urban and rural communities.
The prize for each category winner is HUF 1 million, while second-place will receive HUF 500,000, and third-place will be awarded HUF 300,000.
In addition to the professional awards decided by the jury, an audience award is also given in each category, the value of which is HUF 1 million.
Those interested can apply with photos taken no earlier than January 1, 2020 at fotopalyazat.magyarorszag.hu. The submission deadline is October 18. Entries will be judged by a five-member professional jury, and the winners are expected to be announced in December.
Both amateur and professional photographers can apply; images that have won prizes in previous entries will not be eligible; and a maximum of 25 entries may be submitted, regardless of category.
