Hungarian Tourism Agency launches new competition for university students

CheckINN evaluates larger-scale ideas that have the potential to transform the Hungarian tourism industry.

The Hungarian Tourism Agency has launched a competition for university students to come up with new ideas that could transform Hungary’s tourism industry. 

CheckINN will evaluate larger-scale ideas that have the potential to change tourism, inventions proposed to digitize already existing hotel and restaurant management systems, and new solutions aimed at improving guest experiences. 

Sponsored by the Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants Association, Hunguest Hotels Hungary and the Danubius Hotels Group, the program puts the next generation into focus. 

Students lacking pragmatic restaurant management or administration skills are also welcome to apply, with the hope that submissions will provide a new, unbiased perspective on the current state of the sector. For the first time, young adults and ambitious university students will have their voices heard, as CheckINN serves as an exceptional platform for those lacking years-long experience to initiate change. 

The deadline for applications is October 31st. Teams can apply in three categories: Innovation directly related to the hotel industry, Adapting working solutions into the hotel industry (e.g. IT digitalization) and Innovation in Hotel Hospitality (F&B).

Winning proposals will be awarded a HUF 3 million grant and generous support to realize their plan. 

“The competition offers a vital opportunity for young people to present their ideas, encouraging them to realize their conceptions. The continuous expansion of the sector must be ensured, and for this, we must find the notions and figures set to define the next ten-twenty years of the tourism industry,” said Péter Princzinger, head of the organization.
