Hungarian firms TrustChain, Signall and Parkl have all won awards at the regional Central European Startup Awards.

Hungarian firms Signall, TrustChain, and Parkl were honored at the regional Central European Startup Awards (CESA) held in Bucharest on November 21.

Winners were announced in 17 categories, and Hungarian companies boasted prizes in three of those categories:

Signall – Best Health Technology Startup

Signall Technologies is the developer of a unique technology that utilizes natural language processing and machine vision technology to convert sign language into text, allowing direct communication between deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing people. In July this year, the group received a second investment of EUR 1.7 million to expand in the US.

Parkl – Best Smart City Startup

Parkl can manage both indoor and street parking from a mobile app and install chargers for future electric cars. In Budapest, you can find them both on vacant parking lots and via big parking companies, and they also have a joint project with GreenGo, the e-carsharing company.

TrustChain – Best Rookie

TrustChain provides a solution for digital contracting and automates the authentication and settlement process.

CESA is the Central and Eastern European round of the world’s largest independent startup competition, the Global Startup Awards. It includes 10 countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia), and the competing companies are among the previous national winners.

Compared to 2018, the number of applicants almost doubled this year: The winners for each category were selected out of a total 5,500 applicants.
