In the spring, the agency assessed the impact of the pandemic on the sector through an industry survey, and feedback revealed that consumer habits had changed and that there was a strong need to create an online sales platform.
With the launch of the webshop, the agency will provide online sales opportunities for Hungarian brands. Customers have access to a wide-range of unique products, and each purchase supports domestic designers.
HFDA is responsible for the platform and will thus take over the development burden, helping to mitigate the adverse effects of the pandemic since products on the webshop can reach more consumers. In addition, the platform promotes the digital transformation of the sector, strengthening the resilience of businesses in the long run.
Back in 2018, HFDA established the Budapest Select umbrella brand to promote Hungarian brands, helping local designers receive more attention, be recognized and succeed. The platform lets designers retain their own image and also allows consumers to better connect to each brand by learning about its personal story.
Customers who are consciously looking for Hungarian products can thus find unique fashion and design creations on one centralized platform. Every piece on the webshop is made individually.
Zsófia Bata-Jakab, head of HDFA, said they want to bring Hungarian brands to the attention of both domestic and international audiences. “We tried to compile what’s offered [on the webshop] in such a way that both higher and lower price products could be accommodated, so everyone can choose the most suitable piece for them, she explained.
