Hungarian development won Startup of the Year

The CEE regional final of the world's largest independent startup ecosystem competition, the Global Startup Awards, was held for the seventh time.

Regional winners of the 7th Central European Startup Awards (CESAwards) have just been announced. The event was broadcast online this year, with three Baltic countries — Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania — also joining the event. 

The competition ran in 13 countries and received 6,807 submissions, with 1,351 accepted to be part of the competition in 10 + 1 categories, the extra category being for the “People’s Choice” award. 

The Hungarian BOOKR Kids, one of the winners of Edison100, won the title Startup of the Year. BOOKR Kids is a unique reading-based edutainment tool designed to engage and delight the youngest learners. It aims to spend your children’s time on smart devices with valuable and interesting content, offering hundreds of interactive audiobooks for download. 

Best Accelerator / Incubator Program: Startup Wise Guys (Estonia)

Startup Wise Guys from Estonia won the Best Accelerator title with their unique approach to full-time acceleration, 100+ active mentors per batch and a values-​​driven management team. 

Investor of the Year: LAUNCHub Ventures (Bulgaria)

LAUNCHub Ventures from Bulgarian has become the Investor of the Year. The early-stage venture capital fund is investing in technology startups in the Seed and Series A funding stages.

Best Coworking Space: Impact Hub Bucharest (Romania)

Impact Hub Bucharest won the title Best Coworking Space with its growing community of 2,000 members and three central locations in Bucharest.

Ecosystem Hero of the Year: Patrik Juránek (Czechia)

The Czech Patrik Juránek, Founder and CEO of Startup Disrupt, has won the title Ecosystem Hero of the Year title with his global startup platform designed to provide knowledge, inspiration and connections to entrepreneurs.

Founder of the Year: Martin Behrens (Austria)

Austrian Martin Behrens, co-founder and CEO of presono, won the title of Founder of the Year. His group enables teams and companies to easily create professional presentations and analyze their use.

Best Social Impact Startup: CastPrint (Latvia)

CastPrint, a cutting-edge 3D-printed cast made from environmentally friendly material, is a lightweight, ventilated and waterproof solution that allows users to have a comfortable recovery period. 

Best Fintech Startup: Crassula (Latvia)

Crassula provides a white-label banking platform that allows you to launch PSPs, Neobanks, Wallets, FX services and other FinTech products in the cloud in days instead of months.

Best Virtual Team Word Solution: Bunnyshell (Romania)

Bunnyshell is a DevOps platform that enables developers to focus on creating great applications, instead of having to manage their platform and infrastructure operations.

Best Newcomer: Pixofarm (Austria)

Pixofarm is a mobile application that helps apple farmers optimize their harvest by measuring and forecasting fruit size and providing reliable data.

People’s Choice: ABC Hub (Slovenia)

Spread across more than 2,000 square meters in Ljubljana, the ABC hub offers everything a young company needs for a successful start.
