Finance Minister Mihály Varga announced the launch of the Hungarian Village Enterprise Restart Program with a budget of HUF 30 billion on Friday.
He stressed that the tender will provide non-refundable grants of HUF 2–10 million for companies with fewer than 10 employees to purchase new equipment and machinery as well as invest in real estate and technological development.
According to the minister, the goal is the same — to strengthen the countryside and therefore Hungary.
If local economies are doing well, there will be jobs, wage increases and development in the area, he said.
Up to 3,000 Hungarian micro-enterprises can use the funds to launch development projects, Varga said, adding that the government believes it is particularly important to support businesses operating in small villages and disadvantaged areas.
