FM Szijjártó meets with US business leaders to strengthen their presence in Hungary

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said that in the current recessionary environment, investment alone can help sustain Hungary's economic growth.

At the UN General Assembly, which the minister is attending in New York, counter-terrorism cooperation will be a priority, as terrorism remains a serious global threat and the food crisis in the wake of the war in Ukraine could further intensify migration flows, making it easier for terrorists to cross borders.

In addition to the Assembly, the minister will also hold talks with representatives of Suez Water Technologies, Eaton Corporation and Oracle.

He pointed out that U.S. companies are the second largest investor community in Hungary, employing around 110,000 people in 1,700 companies, plus they bring high-tech investments to Hungary.

Szijjártó will meet his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in the evening to discuss the war in Ukraine and bilateral energy cooperation.
