Hungary’s “Silver Ribbon” sailing competition will be the first domestic sailing competition of the year and will cover the route Balatonföldvár – Balatongyörök – Balatonföldvár.
At the beginning of May, the Hungarian Sailing Association (MVSZ) decided that competitions could begin again on June 1. The Ezüst szalag (“Silver Ribbon”) sailing competition has had some rough years: stormy winds in 2018 and only a very light breeze in 2019. Now, the restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus epidemic are causing new headaches for participants.
The organizers of the race are taking the recommendations of MVSZ very seriously. Thus, you can only enter through the VIHAR system, the reduced entry fee due to the compulsory elimination of party events can only be paid by bank transfer, and there is no party registration. There will be no award ceremony either, and all awards will later be sent to the winners.
The start date and location, however, will remain the same: Balatonföldvár on Saturday, June 6, at 6 p.m. Sailors have to arrive at the final destination by 2 p.m. the next day.
The “Silver Ribbon” race also helps participants get ready for the Kék szalag (“Blue Ribbon”) sailing competition, one of the largest sailing events in Europe.
