EIT Manufacturing Hub established in Hungary

The new branch of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology in Hungary will support innovations in production tech.

EIT Manufacturing Hub Hungary is the international center of EIT Manufacturing and will serve as an intermediary organization between relevant domestic actors.

The Hub aims to find, connect and encourage collaboration between the best think tanks and entrepreneurs within the manufacturing and production sectors. Its objectives include building technology-focused partnerships with universities and research institutes that combine EIT Manufacturing values with national technology priorities.

The Hub will organize information and open days and also seeks to exploit the potential of innovation and digitalization by supporting production-focused domestic startups. The Hub will thus help EIT Manufacturing-relevant startups prepare for international competitions and will integrate startups into EIT’s international ecosystem.

In connection with the Hub, the StartITup Győr team aims to spread the best practices typical of startups into domestic manufacturing companies using practices more typical for entrepreneurs. Currently, five companies have agreed to participate in the program to integrate risk-taking and innovative approaches as well as reward and motivation techniques into their operations.

This year, SD Robot in Győr, behind the disinfection robot, became one of the most successful startups for 2020, taking third place at the BoostUp! organized by EIT Manufacturing CLC East (headquartered in Vienna), in the “CREATE” category.

Strategic partners involved in the implementation of the Hub include PBN – Pannon Business Network, Budapest University of Technology, Mechanical Engineering Scientific Association and StartITup Győr Association.
