The Digital Wandering (“Digitális Vándor” in Hungarian) application was developed by the Active and Ecotourism Development Center (AÖFK) and the Office of the Government Commissioner for Active Hungary.
“The Digital Wanderer app invites those interested to explore the natural and built environment of our country. We hope that with this innovative solution, we will be able to persuade many children to spend as much time as possible in nature while also improving their perspective and knowledge base,” Máriusz Révész, Government Commissioner for Active Hungary, said at the presentation of the new application in Kapolcs.
The application has been launched with 12 e-trails, but the number of trails will be continuously expanded. In order to complete the target of 100 e-trails by June 2021, creative local and regional initiatives are absolutely necessary, as this is the only way to create adventure trails, the government commissioner added.
AÖFK, the developer of the application, is awaiting applications from local governments and non-governmental organizations that would like to develop e-paths in their own area.
Users of the application can get to know natural treasures, as well as buildings of worship and traditional crafts, while each route comes with interesting questions and tasks as well. Additional features include videos, enchanted animals in 3D and augmented reality, and other natural phenomena to make the digital tour even more exciting.
The Digital Wanderer mobile app can be downloaded for free from Google Play or the App Store and can be used offline on the specified e-trails.
