Design Terminal to host space conference

Design Terminal will address key issues in the space industry at its free online conference.

Space Terminal – Online Summit powered by Design Terminal aims to show how space-related inventions and technologies can be used in our everyday lives.

The event will be opened by Orsolya Ferencz, Ministerial Commissioner for Space Research, who announced this past August that the government had adopted a space strategy. Then, in September, the Hungarian business incubation program of the European Space Agency (ESA) was launched. According to Design Terminal, the main goal of ESA BIC Hungary is to develop successful space industry startups and create and strengthen a space industry community in Hungary.

At the opening of the 33rd Congress of the International Astronaut Association that was held November 1–5 in Budapest, the ministerial commissioner said that a Hungarian astronaut will be able to test world-class Hungarian innovations and conduct unique experiments at the International Space Station during the upcoming 30–60-day mission.

Now, Design Terminal’s two-day online conference will have a range of exciting topics including the exploitation of data from space, climate change, the life of analog astronauts, and space tourism.

Among the speakers will be celebrities such as Director of European Cooperation at Thales Alenia Space Freddie Geyer, space engineer and co-founder of startup Space DOTS Bianca Cefalo, and science fiction writer Alastair Reynolds.

The conference is being held as an event of the X-Europe space industry section of the X-Europe program, which supports deep tech startups in business development based on scientific research.

The conference will be held online in English November 10–11, and additional information is available at the conference site.
