The Mária Valéria Bike will offer family-friendly and energy-efficient public transport to locals and tourists alike.
The project will create 14 new bike rental stations, with eight located in Esztergom and six in Štúrovo. Forty-five electric bikes will also be available for rent at the stations in addition to the 60 traditional bicycles.
The EBI bike rental system that already operates in Esztergom will become compatible with this new one. The deployment and launch of the new service will primarily benefit local residents, including workers, students, and the older generation who cross the border on a daily basis.
The new service aims to connect residents from both sides of the border and tourists from Štúrovo and Esztergom. With the launch of the new service, not only can more people cross the border, but air pollution will also be reduced.
The cost of the entire project will come to a total of HUF 300 million.
