Complex tourist development of the Festetics heritage continues

The development will enhance the heritage of the Festetics family and make it accessible to visitors.

The development is being carried out by a consortium led by the Hungarian Tourism Agency with EU funding of HUF 1.26 billion.

The project started on June 30, 2019, and since then, the Festetics Castle’s ornamental lighting and sound system, the Gyenesdiás Spice Garden, Fountain Trail, and the Georgikon Museum have been renewed. The Balaton Museum now has a recreation room, while the House of Nature Visitor Center in Gyenesdiás offers visitors a VR tour.

As a continuation of the development, the promenade around the Lake Hévíz Baths will be rehabilitated, with completion scheduled for the end of August 2022. The Festetics Imre Zoo in Gyenesdiás will be expanded with new playground elements and information boards, and the road leading to the Festetics Horse Race will be renovated.

The planned improvements will contribute to strengthening the year-round offerings of Lake Balaton and will allow tourists to enjoy a wider range of activities.
