Due to the coronavirus restrictions, no holiday flights have landed so far at Hévíz-Balaton Airport in Sármellék, but it looks like that the first charter plane of Czech Airlines will arrive from Düsseldorf on August 15.
The plane will return to Germany to pick up holiday travelers from Berlin and bring them to Hévíz as well. The airport will also grant a landing permit to a Lufthansa plane from Frankfurt on the same day.
So far, only planes related to commerce and sport have landed at the airport, although far more this year than in the same period last year.
Guests will be able to fly in from seven German cities – Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig, Erfurt and Dresden – to the west-Balaton airport.
The airport, which was founded in 1951 and had a HUF 6.6 billion in infrastructure development in 2016 currently has 36 employees and saw revenues of HUF 200 million in 2019.
