Budapest’s Paris Courtyard won a gold medal in two categories

The reconstruction of the iconic building won first prize in two categories at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards, beating out many projects around the world.

Founded in 1951 and based in more than 60 countries, the Paris-based FIABCI holds the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence every year to select and recognize the most successful real estate developments.

At the event held on June 3 this year, the reconstruction of the Paris Courtyard (Párisi Udvar) building was found to be the best in both the “Heritage Protection” and “Hotel” categories and was awarded the World Gold Winner.

The owners of the Mellow Mood Hotels hotel group, Sameer Hamdan and Awad Zuhair, have dreamed of a unique, all-inclusive five-star hotel in a building that had been empty for years.

The design was carried out by Archikon, and the contractor Market Építő Zrt. worked for almost four and a half years on the renovation, considered to be one of the largest ceramic-clad buildings in Europe and an iconic structure in Budapest.

The Paris Udvar Hotel Budapest opened its doors in May 2019 as a member of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt.

In addition to the positive feedback, these prestigious international awards now prove that the building’s historic heritage is in perfect harmony with its present commercial function.
