Budapest Christmas Fair voted best Christmas market in Europe again this year

Once again this year, the Christmas fair in front of St. Stephen's Basilica (Advent Bazilika) has been voted the best Christmas fair in Europe.

The Budapest event received almost 25,000 votes from 163 countries via the independent travel portal European Best Destinations during its 10-day online poll, the company told MTI on Friday.

In total, there were 173,620 voters from 163 countries, with the most votes cast from the UK. The Advent Bazilika not only came out on top in the overall vote but was the absolute favorite among voters from the UK and the US.

The Advent Bazilika has been a European frontrunner for several years, finishing second in 2020 and first in 2019.

The Christmas Fair, which is open until January 1, welcomes visitors for the 11th time this year with a special selfie poster, 3D light painting on the facade of St. Stephen’s Basilica, a free skating rink, and almost 100 craft and gastronomic exhibitors.

The area of the fair is closed for pedestrian traffic only, with access granted after a vaccination-certificate check.
