Béres Pharmaceutical pursues HUF 6 billion investment

The drug company will expand its activities in Szolnok according to Minister of Finance Mihály Varga, who made the announcement at the foundation stone ceremony of the company's new production department.

Béres’ investment of more than HUF 6 billion will be supported via a non-refundable state subsidy of HUF 3 billion under the Large Enterprise Investment Support Program of the Ministry of Finance. Thanks to the support, the production line of Béres Csepp, which is a Hungaricum, will be renovated, and the company will create 69 jobs. With a market share of 37 percent, the company is the market leader in disease prevention and healthcare products; Béres Csepp is the best-known immune-boosting product in the country.

József Béres, President of Béres Pharmaceuticals, said that the investment was necessitated by the growing demand for Béres products. They currently sell some 150 products, many of which are market leaders. Now, Béres Pharmaceuticals will increase its factory area by 2,050 square meters as well as expand its storage capacity and develop its infrastructure, he added.

The company’s cooperation with the University of Debrecen plans to start healthcare training in Szolnok in September 2021 as well, which will also help the company secure its workforce.

The epidemic has put the world economy in a fragile state, but Hungary ‘s situation is in many respects more favorable than that of other European states, the finance minister said. He pointed out that Hungary still has an excellent investment rate. This figure was 27.6 percent in the second quarter of this year, which is strong both at an EU and regional level.

Accordingly, the government places great emphasis on encouraging investments, which is why the Economic Protection Operational Group also discussed accelerating and supporting investments on Tuesday and allocated new funds from the budget for this purpose, Mihály Varga said.

There is still a need for as many Hungarian brands as possible to make it onto the international market, so companies striving for this can count on the government for support. So far, the government has provided domestic enterprises with more than HUF 500 billion through the investment program.
