Autumn Festival of Museums continues until end of next week
This year's Autumn Festival of Museums raises awareness of the role of museums in intellectual, social, environmental and mental sustainability.
Zsófia Jakab, deputy director general for marketing and communications at the Hungarian Tourism Agency, said that cultural tourism is a very important element of Hungary’s tourism products.
Cultural tourism is one of the most important tourism products in Hungary. Some 4.5 million visitors come to Hungary every year for this purpose, spending 13 million nights in Hungary. The history of Hungarian culture — our literary and fine arts traditions and our architectural heritage — attracts a particularly large number of visitors, as do our successful music festivals and events. Cultural visits to Hungary are typically domestic tourists, but the country’s attractions also have an international appeal, he said.
Magdolna Nagy, the organizer, said that like every year, institutions could link their events to a specific theme. This year, the Autumn Festival of Museums is focusing on sustainability. The event runs until November 13, 2022.
The number of museums taking part in the series of events exceeds 120, with almost 80 museums in the countryside organizing programs alongside nearly 40 in the capital. Until November 13, more than 500 events will attract around 1,000 visitors to museums.
The Autumn Festival of Museums website offers a wide range of events by theme, region, locality and date.
