THE World University Rankings is the only global ranking that compares research-intensive universities along with all their key activities: education, research, knowledge utilization, and international activity.

Thirteen detailed calibrated performance indicators are used for the most comprehensive and balanced analysis, which is also recognized by students, academics, university leaders, industry players, and governments. Performance indicators are divided into five areas: Teaching (the learning environment); Research (volume, income and reputation); Citations (research influence); International outlook (staff, students and research); and Industry Income (knowledge transfer).

The World University Rankings 2022 was won by the University of Oxford (UK), followed by the California Institute of Technology (US) and Harvard University (US).
